April Classes

Good morning everyone.  I know that you all have been waiting with baited breath to finally get this.  So without further ado here we go.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and got your fill of peeps.  We had a wonderful day with the family but there was only one thing missing and the was my son Billy.  He is a Chef in Orlando and of course you know that Chefs work on all holidays.  So it was sad that he wasn’t there.

I also wanted to let you know that the month of April celebrates out 1st year together at the Sew Sistah Sew Studio.  Can you believe it?  Time has really flown by.  I’m looking forward to the next years to come and creating even more wonderful friendships.  We have made some great projects together and I have truly enjoyed every minute with each and everyone of you.  Thank you so much for you time and devotion to this idea of mine.  I really appreciate all of you.

Lets get back to having a great second year.

Around the Block Jelly Roll Quilt

10 – 4 pm

40$ class fee

13$ book

Pre Cuts are the way to go with this particular quilt.  When I made this ( about 5 Year ago I started it and finished it last month)  Darlene didn’t carry the Jelly Rolls or maybe they didn’t even make them yet.  Not sure however I loved the blue floral border print so much that I went around the store cutting (40) 2-1/2″ strips of everything I could get my hands on that matched the floral.  Many trips around the store and poof I was done.  About 4 hours later none the less.

This quilt is definately a high level beginners quilt.  It really is straight forward piecing and don’t youjust love the pieced border.  Easy also.

Supplies needed:

  • Book  (On a Roll Again by Heather Mulder Peterson)and Anka’s Treasures  I have one copy left for sale.
  • one jelly roll of your choice
  • 1- 3/8 yards of a cream or white for 9-patches and setting triangles
  • 3/4 yard of a tone on tone fabric to match you jelly roll for the pieced inner border
  • 2- 1/4 yard of larger print to be your outer border
  • 2/3 yard for your binding
  • 4 yards for backing
  • sewing machine
  • sewing supplies
  • matching thread

you will need to come to class with the fabric for the 9-patch already cut.

  • from (31) assorted strips you will need to cut the following” sets “from each strip (2) 2- 1/2″ x 9 -3/4″ and                                (2) 2- 1/2″ x 5 -3/4”
  • From the remaining jelly roll strips,(including leftover from the strips listed above) cut: (40) 2-1/4″ x 10″ ( notice that you cut the strips down from the original 2-1/2″.)
  • From Cream or white fabric, cut:  (9) 2-3/4″ x 42″ strips and cut into (18) 2-3/4″ x 10″ and (18) 2-3/4″ x 7-3/4″ and cut        (8)  2-1/4″ x 42″ strips cut into (32) 2-1/4″ x 10″.

When you bring this to class already cut it will give us ahead start on the day.   If you are feeling ambitious go ahead and cut out the rest of the quilt if you already have the book.

Kim Dunkel a good friend of mine did the fabulous quilting that you see in the picture.  She will be available to quilt your quilt for your when you have finished it.  Prices will vary due to different styles of pantagraphs she will have. You will love her work, she is very meticulous and takes her time when quilting.   I will give her card out at class so that you will be able to contact her for an appointment to get an estimate.  She did a beautiful job on mine doing a very full feather meander.  She know exactly what I like.  I really appreciate her taking the time out of her busy schedule to quilt my quilt.  I cherish her.
